Welcome to Oshki Ogimaag!

Thank you for visiting Oshki Ogimaag Community School. There are very exciting things going on here at Oshki Ogimaag. Many of you may have heard that the school recently received an $88,000 grant from the Dakota Ojibwe Language Revitalization Alliance. 100% of the money from this grant will be used for activities that promote the learning and revival of Anishinaabemowin. We now a have a full-time language teacher on staff, as well as a part time language intern, to lead these efforts.

As another new year is beginning, we are eagerly looking forward to the coming months. In addition to a strong focus on academic achievement, some of the goals we are hoping to accomplish in the 2012-2013 school year are:

- Increased parent involvement
- New sources of funding by vigorous grant writing and  fundraising efforts
- Vast improvements in the language and culture curriculum
- New professional development opportunities for our staff and teachers
- Weekly language and culture activities for the whole community

We would like to say miigwech to all the parents, guardians, and families of our students. Your faith in our school and continued support are what makes Oshki Ogimaag a success. NOTICE:  MCA testing for all 3rd-6th graders for Reading and Math is scheduled for April 22-26, 2013.  Remember a well rested child is a better test taker.

OOCS BOOK SWAP!!

Do you have unused children's book taking up space? WE WILL TAKE THEM! The Oshki Ogimaag PTCO is coordinating a book swap. Feel free to stop by any time during the school day to donate, exchange, or bring books home. If you are looking for some "new" books to read to your children, come peruse our bookshelf.

OOCS Book Swap is located in the school lobby near the front desk. Books for all grades and reading abilities are encouraged. Please, be sure that books are appropriate for the school environment.
