What is a Charter School?

Q: Where do I enroll my child?
A: Please pickup application in the Community Center, RTC or Lodge . Please turn in applications to
the RTC, temporary Charter Office ( next to the laundromat) or mail them to 83 Stevens Road, Grand Portage, MN 55605
Q: What qualifications will the teachers
have?
A: The teachers will have their Minnesota Teaching License.
Q: What grades will be available at the
school?
A: The School will offer Kindergarten through 6th grade.
A: Through a learner centered environment, students will receive culturally appropriate project based learning opportunities. Staff is committed to an effort to decrease classroom interruptions through effective classroom management by utilizing principles founded in traditional Anishinaabe values. The students will be bi-lingual English/Anishinaabewan by the time they have finished 6th grade. They will learn not only the vocabulary, but the heart and ways of Anishinaabe, the stories, the values, the pride, the history, respect for the Earth Mother as the earth gives strength, and respect and pride for themselves.
